on 4 February, 2019 Actress and philanthropist Charlize Theron was born on August 7, 1975, in rural Benoni, South Africa, to co-owners of a road construction company, Charles and Gerda. The Afrikaans-speaking family lived on a working farm outside of Johannesburg. Theron's childhood chores included tending livestock, her passion for dance became evident early on. To foster her artistic leanings, she began ballet lessons at age 6 and later was sent to boarding school to study dance. Coming from an unsettling childhood, Charlize always strived high. After winning a Modeling contest in Johannesburg at age 16, her modelling career was launched. At age 18, having explored modelling opportunities in New York, she decided to reconnect with her love of dance and attempted to pursue a career in it. Although throughout her studies with the Joffrey Ballet school were plagued by severe knee injuries, forcing her to abandon her dance career.Theron decided to pursue acting instead, and moved to Los Angeles.
